A Rocha Dunedin group relaunches!

10th August 2016

Winter planting @ Tirohanga [Greta Yeoman]

After a couple of years hiatus the A Rocha local group in Dunedin has relaunched! Last month the group began work on a stream and wetland restoration project at Tirohanga Camp . The camp located only 20 minutes out of Dunedin hosts school, community, youth and church groups throughout the year. Previously the A Rocha group has worked on clearing weeds and native bush re-vegetation on the site of the camp’s waste-water dispersal field.

The new riparian planting is located right in the centre of the camp and project plans include interpretation and educational material to inform camp users about the importance of protecting stream habitats. Another planting is planned for Saturday August 13th.  If you’re interested in being involved and in knowing more about the Dunedin A Rocha group and their activities, contact: Selwyn Yeoman: [email protected]
