A Rocha volunteers help dairy farm go green

On the last day of May, 27 volunteers, from churches, a school environmental club and students from the A Rocha-Laidlaw College ‘Ecology, God and Community’ course descended on a south Waikato dairy farm to plant up a newly created wetland. The wetland has been developed by Putaruru farmers Gray and Marilyn Baldwin, with the intention of improving the water quality in the streams draining their farm. The project has received major funding from DairyNZ and the Waikato River Authority and is being used by them as a demonstration project. The planting day was a great success, with beautiful weather, great food, new friends and over 2500 sedges and flaxes put in the ground. To read more about the project, see:
