Environment on Alpine Presbytery agenda

This year the Alpine Presbytery gathering in Christchurch made a stand for the environment.

Fifty church leaders from the Canterbury region listened and then unanimously agreed to support a motion to make the environment a priority in their parishes.

Inspired by theological reflection and practical stories of hope from A Rocha leaders Selwyn Yeoman and Kristel van Houte, local pastors stood together and committed to a joint agreement that aimed to appoint eco-church leaders or “champions” in their church communities over the coming year.

A Rocha is aiming to create an eco-church program – that inspires, connects and supports church communities to better care for our planet.

Imagine the difference faith-motivated people can make if they become advocates for sustainable action, protecting our wildlife and wild places.
