Karioi Project - Te Whakaoranga O Karioi
We are actively involved in the Karioi Project, a community-led conservation project initiated by Te Whakaoranga O Karioi in partnership with Te Whaanga ahu Whenua trust, members of Tainui hapu, A Rocha Aotearoa New Zealand, Whāingaroa Environment Centre, Department of Conservation, Waikato Regional Council and Whāingaroa/Raglan community. Our committed team, volunteers and partners have been working to restore biodiversity together with the amazing support of the local community. The focus of the Karioi Project encompasses Karioi and its coastal escarpments and forest, wetlands, freshwater and marine habitats and communities to the north and south of the mountain from Whāingaroa Harbour to Aotea Harbour.
